This and that

I've just found this cute site for cards but the ideas are transferable for layouts.

Meanwhile I've been working on design team work for From screen to scrap. The layout for 2 months time features a new baby or pregnancy photo. As there were very few of the latter,I opted for the new baby.It is the first time I've done one of those triangular banners on a layout but I'm having fun.

There's a cybercrop on at Enchanted scrapbooking this weekend.

I missed out on my application for the Design TEam at Scraphappy Kat but I'm not too worried,it was for a sketch co-ordinator which could be quite time consuming. They are sending me a mystery gift for applying ,which is generous of them.

Scrap that poetry

Here's my layout for Scrap that poetry. It is based on the religious poem about footsteps in the sand. I chose the phrase "one set of footprints" to scrap. The blue background is not part of this layout,I just put it on for the scanning. These footprints were on a plinth where a statue once stood thousands of years ago in Lindos,Rhodes,Greece.

Inspired Blueprints sketch # 50.

Here's my latest layout for Inspired Blueprints.I went dotty with this one, which nearly drove me crazy when trying to "stitch" the layout using my scanner software. It shows Erica sitting in front of the Parthenon on our holiday last year.

A new blog for inspiration

I've just been "blog surfing" via mandysea who very kindly left a message about the last layout.I discovered a blog called the thrifty nest which features quotes and interesting pictures from the 1950's and earlier. She is a collage artist and has some interesting links.I'm sure she will provide inspiration for the shabby layouts.

Crafty sketches with fairy fun pack

My fairy fun pack from Enchanted Scrapbooking arrived yesterday and as it involved trees I decided to use it for a second layout about cutting up the huge tree.It all came together well so will be entered into this month's crafty sketches.

Tree & poem

WE needed a tree layout for 2 sites this month. One is Artastic where we needed to have a tree,2 birds and some falling leaves. The second site is scrap the poetry where the inspiration was the "giving tree". I don't normally double up but the photo I had worked for both.(SEE EARLIER POST RE THE TREE GETTING CUT DOWN)
This gorgeous tree is like a friend. It stood in our backyard for over 80 years.I had a cubby house next to it when I was small.I looked at that tree every morning out of my bedroom window....it has always been there for me.4 generations of my family gathered to watch it being cut down.A very sad day, although a relief for my mother who worried about the neighbours houses.

Out of the hat challenge

We had to use more than 3 photos, doodling and staples and mixed alphas to create this layout. I found pictures of castles in Ireland and one of Erica asleep on the coach.I cut out a tree which matched the shapes on the background paper and stapled it to the layout. The alphas are by doodlebug designs and from cheap shop letters. The castle chipboard from scrapbookncraft was painted grey to match the photos.

Favourite shoes

You can't help but be in a good mood with these shoes! My tribute to the Wizard of OZ...which is the reason these were chosen.

Delightful Dublin

3 layouts in one day!

Mystical is having a cybercrop this weekend so I was inspired to get cracking on my scrapbooking. The first is a page based on a nursery rhyme or a quote.I went for the nursery rhyme and did "this little piggy went to market".
The second layout is for Kraft it up where it had to be minimalist. I used a photo of the head gorilla at Taronga Zoo and used a squirl by a2z scraplets and a prima vine as the main decoration on it.I kept to jungle colours.
The other layout here, not for Mystical but for Inspred Blueprints (Youthful) featuring my favourite brand of papers:-7 Gypsies and one of the best photos of myself I have, taken around the time of my wedding.

A busy time and another month rolls on.

June is Tax time so I've been busy sorting out all my paperwork in preparation for the tax man.At the same time I'm going through Mum's house trying to find places to sell/give away/store her stuff. One of the burdens of us "baby boomers" is aged parents living longer meaning we are torn for our time between needs of our parents, our kids and our own lives. At least I don't have to hurry with this chore!Actually I'm enjoying looking in antique shops while I'm doing it! I visited a retro 50's and 60's shop yesterday and saw so many things that brought back memories.
Scrapbooking wise I'm doing the rounds of the sites I'm on for another month, checking on sketches/challenges/inspiration.One even requires a photo of me on a layout(gulp!!!!)
If you are reading this and need inspiration go to FROM SCREEN TO SCRAP this month where the layout is based on the movie ALICE IN WONDERLAND. Click on the blinkie at the side and it will take you there.
