New technique old photo.

Here's another of the old photos featuring Mum,this time she is on the right, aged about 7 in 1925.
I tried a new technique for this which is glueing tissue paper using mod podge to the backing card.I then sprayed it all over with blue glimmer mist.I used rub-ons and adhesive swirlsplus sewn on buttons as embellishments. The title is scrapmatts again sprayed with glimmer mist.I machine sewed around the edges. This layout is the colour room.

More cards!

Two more cards using scrapmatts and leftover scraps of paper. The left hand one says dream and could be for a variety of uses. The right hand one has a quote.."Thinking is the talking of the soul with itself" by Plato.I have a university graduate in mind for this one.

October afternoon in the past at the beach

This layout features October Afternoon papers and lettering plus the 2 smaller pictures are Graphic 45.The chipboard has been painted then the edges inked...it is by scrapmatts.

It is a photo from when my mother was 14...in 1932! She is now 92 and still "with it".I wanted to scrap a few of her favourite photos while she can still recall the details. This one had her talking for quite a while. One of my aims /reasons for my scrapbooking is to record family events, past and present.
Thanks for looking

Two cards using scrapmatts

These two cards were made using leftover pattern paper scraps and Scrapmatts chipboard. The first is a 90th birthday card for a friend of my mother's who was a dressmaker. She loved the dress form and background papers.

The second is for a friend who loves red.I used a scrapmatts card border under the red poppies.

When dinosaur lived at a2z

Here's my entry for A2Z scraplets monthly challenge. These 2 photos are soooo old my daughter would say "was that when dinosaurs were alive?" as a joke.
I loved doing this one and I finally used that baby dinosaur chipboard.

Colour room

This layout is for The color room.Even though there is a touch of brown here, the colours were blue, lilac, pink and yellow.I used an old doiley which has pink/blue in it plus flowers in the nominated shades. The flourish was glimmer misted with yellow then blue to create the colours that match the cameos.I added some yellow brads and blue buttons.

This was on the Ponte Vecchio in Florence where there were many lovely jewellers shops.

Show us your stuff with a bond.

This photo is a friend who I've known since 1973 and myself.
The layout has backing paper which I handmade. I painted over a stencil with grey gesso&paint mixed together.I then glimmer misted over a chipboard flourish. The other 3 patterned papers are chatterbox, october afternoon and DCWV.I hand stitched around the top and left hand side and added a button near the curled paper. The flowers are from Scrapbook'n'craft. The chipboard letters I bought at a local bargain store, the butterflies are from Art Stamps.com.au ,the hatpin was sent to me in a kit from whatisoldisnewagain and the chipboard card border is from scrapmatts. And there....I've managed to do a "plug" for the 3 scrapbooking shops/sites I've worked for.

Do you recycle???

Today I visited my LSS and took her a whole lot of 12x12 bags that papers/kits etc came in whether they are cellophane or plastic. Also I keep the smaller size bags that alphas or rubons come in as they are handy to re-bag bits with eg all the brown prima tiny flowers I have left. I also took a huge bag full of those to my lSS too.in return I received 2 pages of Graphic 45 paper for Free!!!!(I wasn't expecting that).
I also keep used postage stamps for a local church mission and recycle christmas, birthday cards to preschools for the children to cut up.
I've made 3 layouts from the Rusty Pickle papers I won on FS2S to send to the flood victims.(see previous post).

Helping the flood victims by scrapping

On this website http://risingwatersqueensland.blogspot.com/ Sharryn Thompson is asking you to scrap a page minus the photo that flood victims can put in their albums. They will add their own photos. If you follow the link you will see all the details. It is a good idea.

Scrapmatts stuff for January.

Tomorrow I'm due to upload my work for January but can't resist putting it on here too!
If you're looking tonight don't tell anyone.(I never could keep a secret.) My first is a twinchies frame featuring scrapmatts chipboard and rhinestones.I used graphic45,Sass Lass,Bella and Rusty pickle papers; then put scrapmatts chipboard hearts(inked),corsets, dress frame on the top.I thought it could become the front cover of a sketchbook for my costume designing daughter.

The second is a kaisercraft Christmas bauble album.I took photos of every family member then did a page for each person with a Christmas theme.again,I used Scrapmatts reindeers, santa and his sleigh and gold clock.

Stuck! Antiques grab

I based this on Stuck! sketches for January. It features 3 scrapmatts chipboard items, the clock, the lamp-post and the dress form. This antiques shop was so intersting and had many larger items for sale as well as little bits and pieces. The leather shop nearby had the old horsecart out the front .
That antique lace was in my grandmothers stash and the patterned paper is SandyLion "tile" which I've had for several years.

A Crafty Sketches disaster

This layout was a disaster to do,in more ways than one!
First of all I placed the great war paper on the background crooked, tried to remove it and it tore. What is left is all I have. Then the bottom photo of me also tore when I tried to re-mat it.I covered it up with ribbon.Under the tissue paper flower is another mistake. My sewing machine refuses to work, so I had to rule the inside box instead of sewing it.My heading was so big it covers Simpson's face. The only thing that went according to plan was my journalling.

Nevertheless I guess I'm reasonably happy with the finished result.I rediscovered these Kaisercraft brads in the back of my stash.Perfect colour.
I think it is good to admit that things don't go smoothly all the time!
My great uncle was at Gallipoli which is why I was researching WW1.

White with one goes back in time

A big step back in time with this entry for White with one. They asked for navy or royal blue and pennants. I found it hard to find navy paper so did a patchwork using these small squares I already had.The lace frame and flower go with the era too.I added the stars to give the layout balance as the pennant made it "top heavy".The chipboard cupid is RWlasercut and the brads are birch
clever collage and luckily were flowers. I think this photo was at the Botanical gardens in Sydney.I'm the littlest girl.

Sketch challenge at www.stampandscrap.com.au

Here is a sketch for january on www.stampandscrap.com.au. The example was soft and feminine but I decided to try a different approach and do this earthy toned entry. Anyone can join in so why not have a go! We need 3 entries before a prize is awarded. The sketch is easy to do and lends itself to a few different samples.

Kraft it up in summer

This month's challenge on Kraft it up was to use the word summer in the title.
This was an old photo from a trip to New Zealand in 1978.I blew it up,then discovered it had an orange tinge to it. I used this to effect by glimmer misting the Kraft then incorporating the colours of orange, yellow and blue(summer) to decorate my layout.I'm still best friends with these 2 ladies, 33 years later.

A paleface layout

Here is a layout I've just completed about my daughter's pale complexion.Being a redhead her skin is fair and in the case of this photo, almost white. I picked up the colours of her dress and used them in the flowers and pleated trim. The graphics 45 paper matched the colours and theme beautifully.I handstitched the branches between the flowers and used scrapmatts chipboard birds and inked the frame gold. The spotted paper is oneheartonemind.

It is a nice bright layout and the scanner didn't show the depth of this to full effect.

A win on Artastic

The Guest DT Rak
donated by Peg Hewitt
(and picked by Peg herself)
has been won by Julene Matthews
with her entry
'I believe in Angels'

Congrat! Julene!! you have won a swag of goodies
This was a surprise and I also received favourable comments about the layout from the nursing home where I hung my layout over Christmas. The nurses and staff there appreciated my kind comments about them being angels. One even cried :)

A male in Anna's craft cupboard!

I had some scraps left over from other layouts so decided to use them in my layout for the January sketch at Anna's craft cupboard.I'm rather happy with how it turned out and the "lines" of the layout are extremely clear and precise, the way I like layouts to be.

I've used scrapmatts chipboard as my embellishments.
