Mint leaves and glitter at Lollipop ladies

This week at Lollipop Ladies the challenge was mint leaves.I've made this Birthday card using a few layers(and my cuttlebug) then finishing with a stamped message and 3 chipboard leaves misted with sparkly green.

CSI no 39.My last layout for September.

CSI #39 suited my requirements for using up bits and pieces I've had in my stash. The theme was "All I really need to know..." so I've used "is that I love you" as my ending.
Erica and I spent 7 weeks together travelling around Europe(without killing each other).Basically we think alike so had very few disagreements. This photo was taken overlooking the Bay of Naples.
The A2Z scraplets frame has been misted,as has the gauze bandage, which I then gathered before putting on this layout.I've used a chenille Purple Pumpkin button which couldn't have been a better match. The orange mini letters, the journalling block, the rub ons,the butterflies and the sticker saying I love you because have all been hanging around on my desk,so it felt great to use them up.
This was judged and I received these badges

Cardmaking begins

Last night I made a start on Christmas cards. These 5 were my first efforts, using silver doileys and red misted Scrapware bells that I won in a challenge.
The second lot were Papertole pictures I bought from Scrapmatts and made using Magic mount between the layers.I dipped tags into walnut ink first to make the mottled background.I've mounted them on bottle green cards. They give a vintage Christmas look.
This one is using an A2Z scraplet flourish, inked in gold plus another walnut ink tag.And these 2 feature Scrapmatts chipboard, the second one being for a man using non Christmas colourscheme. It now has a blue brad in the hole on the tag.

Archiscraps needs you!

Here's the inspirational picture for Archiscraps this month.
Think grunge, corrugated card, grafitti, metallics, car parts. You must have a male layout that answers some of that.
I don't mind "double dipping" so if you have one you've used somewhere else previously upload it to Archiscraps. You could win the prize!!!! Go here http://archiscraps.blogspot.com.au/ for more details.

Orange Paperie September challenge.

This month's challenge was to use a black and white photo, ribbon, inking, chippy, distressing and a 2 word title.
My layout is named "City bound" and features Mum dressed up for a big day in town, meeting up with friends probably. She carries gloves and her fur stole as well as a patent leather handbag and wearing a hat. This photo was taken from one of Dad's old slides and has faded from colour to sepia(hope this is permissable). For this reason,I chose browns and blues for my layout.I've misted through the city chipboard before painting it & placing across the lower section of the layout. There is a section of lace from one of Mum's old hankys plus a tiny blue ribbon bow.

Purple pumkin buttons are cool!!!!

I've made this layout for Mystical 's September challenge which needed to include washi tape, transparency(I've used 2),twine and 2 cardstock. This has been adhered to and I'm loving Purple Pumpkin's chenille buttons and twine so I've included some of each on here.
Venice is my favourite city so far out of all the travelling I've done..that is quite a lot.

Scrap the girls playing hockey

Scrap the girls this month asked for sports or action photos.Dad's old slides came to the fore when I found these 2 photos featuring me and him going off to hockey and bowls.I used to play either right back or goalie in a competition while at Teachers College.I even managed to make the teamfor an intercollegiate in Townsville. The photos also feature my first car,an EK holden.
I've used purple pumpkin chenille button, doiley and twine on here plus the negative from scrapmatts daisies as a mist background.Would you believe the background paper is a map of the western rivers of NSW?I painted over it in gesso before misting the daisies.

FS2S and a house

This old photo was an enlargement of a tiny photo we had.It shows my grandfather and his sister around 1895 in front of their house.I've painted through a doiley using gesso mixed with white paint to create the lacy edge. Then added flourished ribbon plus flowers to co-ordinate with the title.

CSI

I've just completed this layout for CSI challenge # 38.
I've used their colours and suggestions, but added some chippy from Twiddlybits and an outline of a pot from Scrapmatts as well.Aren't the merci vellum flowers pretty?.I've added a quote which was appropriate to my holiday in Cook Islands.I couldn't wait until the time was right,I just went!

Purple Pumpkin sketch challenge

I was recently lucky enough to win a box of goodies from SAmantha Hauser at Purple Pumpkin. Some of the yummy buttons, the rhinestone word, pink doiley and pearls I've used on here. The leaves and floral paper plus the ribbon are from Kaisercraft's magnolia grove collection.
Here's the sketch
and here's my take on it
I've purposely left the background neutral(with a little distressing from pinecone ink),to emphasise the photo and buttons.And...yes that is me in 1959 aged about 4!!!!

A little floral craft time

Recently I received a huge box of goodies from Samantha Hauser for winning a blog comment. In it were these yummy imaginisce pop up posies.I had fun last night making the flowers up and as you can see I've used one to adorn a birthday present for a dear friend.

Gobstoppers at Lollipop ladies

I've made 2 more cards in monochromatic colours for Lollipop ladies this fortnight. The orange one on the left could be for a child or baby or for someone in love. The salmon one on the right I thought for a kitchen tea or perhaps thank you for a meal.

Coconuts at Kraft it up

The printed Kraft paper called for a travel photo.I took the photo of the coconut tree earlier this year in the Cook Islands where we had a BBQ on an island and were shown how to climb a tree and cull the coconuts.
I started by painting over a negative of shapes in white paint, then misted lightly in green. While misting,I made the coconut palm frond using another negative .In the middle of these I've sewn 3 buttons to resemble coconuts.I matted the photo on green paper(distressed edges),adding another strip of green underneath. This reminded me of the sea and I found the turtle for a bit of fun.We did actually see turtles that day. Finally I added my journalling and another subheading-summer days.

Fine and Sunny at Stuck?!

I've used Kaisercraft papers and stamps on this from the range called Fine and Sunny.I followed the bird theme and used 2 photos recently taken of swans.I've used scrapmatts bird stand with a stamped image of a bird house then an inked bluebird in the house. The pennant stamp went beautifully with the letters from BElla Boulevarde ,so became my title.
Other words were added around the layout as my journalling.
I kept this one reasonably simple as the photos are the main thing I wanted to show.

DON"T FORGET ARCHI SCRAPS CLOSES ON 15TH SEPTEMBER.WHY NOT DO A QUICK LAYOUT NOW!

Sherbies at Lollipop ladies

The theme at Lollipop ladies was Sherbies and embossing.I've made 2 cards using the colours of sherbies. The card on the right has an embossed flower background plus rub-on decoration. The one on the left has a smaller rub on.

White with one and heritage.

White with One this month asked for white with orange and black. These papers from Kaisercraft were ideal.
First I fussy cut around the journalling circle and flourish, then applied it to another layer of orange paper. On to this I used rub-onsd down the side and along the bottom edge.I found two doileys that matched so used them under the photo to suggest heritage layout then added a scrapmatts penny farthing.Aren't they cute?
Finally,I added the photo and adhered Scrapmatts Federation corners and exterior detail. They are straight, the angle of the house in the photo is sloping to the right.I've measured it several times to check!

Black with two

I haven't done a layout for Black with Two for several months, however this month's colours appealed to me.It was black with purple and green.
I'm amazed at what I was able to use here. I've had these sparkly dragonflies for a while, also the purple Japanese paper with birds on them. They both suited the photo, so I've included them. Also a hand made lace flower as some white was requested.
The photo was taken at Auburn gardens looking through a circular window in a Japanese tea house at the water feature....very peaceful.

1,2,3 challenge with BBQ man

The challenge for September at 1,2,3 was for grey, metals and the word "man".
I recently bought the "Old guys rule" paper cheaply, thinking I'd never use it. However it is just right for the background on this.I've inked the chipboard "Look at me!" with silver and there is a tiny pig charm next to the photo as well as the square porthole metallic accent
.I've used a grey arrow, leaving the outline in white so it stands out against the background, and Nathan is wearing grey.

Tom's monster at Scrap the boys

My daughter and her friend,Tom, went to the dinosaur  Museum in Canberra. They found some interactive models where they can climb inside. These 2 photos are of Tom doing just that.

I started with dragging a comb dipped in black paint across the card, then mixed water to the remaining paint and created some blobs. This became the background as requested by Scrap the boys. To the layout I then added  a grid from micro letters, suitable words plus a chipboard monster painted blue,a crochet item,a button and stars. The journalling block hasn't been written on as my daughter can do that later.I had fun with this one.

Let's get shabby

This layout is for Let's get shabby. I've definitely used some shabby elements such as the corrugated card and the downloaded door picture(miniature) from "Percy and bloom".The scrapmatts chipboard word "Timeless" has been inked using distress ink in black soot.
The whole idea for this was based on these photos from an old pub door at Broken Hill. This made me find the silver cardboard and the copper clock.I tried to use metallic elements. My final layout is evocative of Broken Hill.
