Tuesday Taggers

The challenge at http://tuesdaytaggers.blogspot.com.au/ is to use fabric on a card.

I immediately thought of the hessian which I've been working my way through for over a year now.

It started its life as

I've used up nearly all the trousers now.

So anyway, here's my card for a birthday wish

Lil red Wagon -no sentiment

http://lilredwagon.blogspot.ca/ has said sssshhhhh! this week. They wanted a card without a sentiment.
I'm still using scraps of musical paper so created this card with music background plus on my tag.
My tag was made from this cardboard from a calendar

I've used the punched edge as part of my tag.
I also have had that brass ring hanging around for ages so was pleased to get it used too.

Mystical cybercrop

There are 3 challenges at Mystical challenges cyber crop. http://mysticalscrapbooks.blogspot.com.au/

This was the sketch challenge.

I'm currently scrapping my daughter's trip to New York. This was Times Square with her on the left.
I misted through a title mask.I only used 2 photos as the top one was so long.I put my journalling in between. The item I made is the square saying memories with you.

Simply create too

Over at http://simplycreatetoo.blogspot.com.au/ the theme is Mother's Day.
It is a site that I haven't entered before, but thought I'd give it a go.

Instead of a card, I've made a sleeve to contain a gift card.
With so many people being so busy, gift cards have often been bought for loved ones these days.
I already had the red card so folded it then glued it together.
Next I've torn a strip of old music and wrapped it around along with some red ribbon.
The MUM was made from the end of a set of alphas.
I've added a flower with 2 tails of matching red ribbon.

Scrapping our stash Sketch #2

This is the sketch at Scrapping our stash for the 2nd half of January.

I've chosen 2 of my daughter's photos of Radio city music hall.
They are wider than the example, so my embellishments went underneath.

I've had the paper featuring cassette recorders for years. It went with the theme as did the music paper.
I've added star paper clips which are echoed in the star sequins.(People who perform there are stars.)
I've added a giant chipboard heart misted with red/gold to add more sparkle.
My washi tapes featuring hearts and filmstrips echo this. The 1234 alludes to music.

And a close up of the bling

shopping our stash -using hoarded papers

Over at Shopping our stash we are asked to find a paper in our stash that we have been hoarding & use it!

In my case it isn't something expensive, but old book print.
I have it sitting there but seldom use it.
I've made a card from scraps of my Counterfeit kit:- the end of some alphas, an offcut of patterned paper and cardstock, two shimmery buttons, an & ,plus the book paper.

Crafty cardmakers-Something old something new.

Over at Craft Cardmakers the theme is Something old, something new.

I'm currently making cards using up my scraps because I sell these cards for charity fundraising.
At a recent retreat we had a tag swap, so I've decided to use one of these tags (NEW) on my card.
"When I look through the lens I see life" is a great quote.
On the card I've used a handmade paper plus cardstock that I've had for several years(OLD).
I've added a resin flower (NEW) on the corner of the tag as a finishing touch too.

Mojo Monday #381 and Southern Girls challenges

I always enjoy doing the sketches at Mojo Monday
This weeks one meant I could use some more scraps from my Counterfeit kit, namely a playing card(blank) plus some lettering.
So here is the sketch and my card for a baby boy.

Next I've made another baby boy card for Southern Girls
Their theme is something new.
I've used October afternoon diecuts from my Counterfeit Kit.

Cardabilities

This is for Cardabilities sketch #115.

I've misted through a chicken wire mask with turquoise, then I stamped randomly on a background of tiny printing. The stamp actually gives a definition of summer and sun, but that isn't important.
Next I used 2 rows of embroidery thread in a darker blue for more background.
The 2 brackets are from October afternoon and Kaisercraft.
I won the flower as part of a prize so have no idea what brand it is.
The 2 little shiny buttons were also part of the same prize.
My sentiment was on a Prima Packet.

In the pink challenges

I've made this card for In the pink using bits and pieces left over from other projects.
The sentiment was cut from packaging.
This will go into my cards to sell for charity box.
The pink edge goes all the way around. Mr scanner cut it off. LOL

Red carpet challenges

http://redcarpetstudiochallenge.blogspot.com.au has a challenge requiring
THE CHALLENGE: Use items in twos. For example... 2 of the same embellies, 2 pictures

I've taken it to another level and used almost 2 of everything on my layout except for the card on the right listing days of the week.

I've used 2 strips featuring waiters since this was the "formal dining area" despite being on the roof next to the pool.
I've used 2 chalkboard title circles,2 photos of the same thing,2 tabs,2 star brads,2 square brads and 2 chipboard helmets misted in sugar maple to resemble bronze

Christmas Smash book part 2 and Little red wagon-frosty cards.

I've done more pages in my smash book celebrating Christmas 2014.

There's my daughter's pet rat Bullet again!
*********************************************
And now 2 cards I've made using those Christmas lolly items.
This first is for Little Red Wagon and ABC CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE where it is A for Antlers.

I applied gesso to a navy card through a lace doiley, then dabbed random dobs to look like snow.
I overlapped the reindeer and snowman to look like buddies.
The reindeer's tummy is a scrap of hessian.

My 2nd card was on a similar theme except with a penguin and the mesh from my Counterfeit Kit plus COOL alphas that look like a snowy texture.

Stuck?! January part 2

Here's the 2nd sketch for the month at Stuck?! I reversed it.

On this layout I've recycled to the max, and also many items from this month's Counterfeit Kit made it on here.

The black & white scalloped thing was a lolly holder, the navy photo mat came from a tourist brochure, the hessian had a former (2) lives, the white leaves are from a birthday cake, the book paper is recycled, the metal mesh is from tablet manufacture, and the chipboard title was misted by me adding water to the dregs of a mist container then shaking & spraying.
The canvas circle (bottom left) is a resist canvas from Prima that I've misted.

I loved this sketch & will use it again! Thanks Laura.

Feeling Sketchy and Case that sketch

Here is the new card sketch at Feeling Sketchy

http://feeling-sketchy.blogspot.com.au/

And using one of those animals I was given, here's my birthday card.

The frame is equal all around, the scanner cut top off it.I inked the leafy bit with pinecone as the background paper is a similar colour.

Case this sketch

I had on my desk a set of alphas I'd almost used up. There were 3 x and 2 y left.
I cut the tails of the y and made another X. Then had 6s and 9s which I turned into circles.
A simple card using leftovers for Valentines day!

Unstampabelles Thank you with a twist.

The challenge at Unstampabelles is to create a thank you card with a twist.
The twist is to feature something you see outside your window.

My neighbour has the most wonderful rose bushes. When I open the curtains I glance at them and admire their beauty.

With that in mind, I made this card. The background paper has a metallic look to it.

Use your stuff - Buttons & color throwdown

I've decided to use this supplementary set of 6x6 papers to tide me over until the end of January.

Kaisercraft Sweet Pea Paper Pad, 6.5" x 6.5"
It is Kaisercraft Sweet Pea  6.5 inch pad.

My first card is for use your stuff where we need to use buttons.
I've used 2 shirt buttons that have been on my desk for ages plus a Heidi Swapp glittery pink button from my Counterfeit Kit.
The chipboard cotton holder is painted with metallic paint.
I've wound cotton around it to break up the pink look.

At Color Throwdown here is the palette

and here is my card. I'm hoping that my orange washi tape is close enough in colour.

Scrap the girls

Well, here it is, the last piece of paper in my Counterfeit Kit

It is October Afternoon :Seaside:Harbour and not very girly.

But,you know me, I like a challenge, so I'm doing Scrap the girls.

I have this photo of my daughter and her best buddy, Carolyn in new York.
They were at the top of the Rockefeller building.

In my Counterfeit Kit were some Resist Canvas flowers from Prima.

I had no idea what to do with them but misted using red and turquoise after watching this video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1URAtyIOkrY

I've used dots so that they stand up from the page, which enabled me to tuck the ric rac and leaves underneath them.
I've also used Heidi Swapp stars and a flair button.
The One in a million tin badge is from Pink Paislee.

My daughter can do her journaling where the white clipboard paper clip is situated.

The paper players

Over at Paper Players
 http://thepaperplayers.blogspot.com.au/2015/01/the-paper-players-challenge-227-anns.html

there is a colour scheme challenge

As Lost lagoon is in my Counterfeit Kit I was able to make a card

Here it is

I just checked my spelling and the D has been replaced by a T in inevitable.(Whoops!!!)
I will blame it on the heat here in Oz.

Jingle Belles Rock and fantastic Tuesday.

The challenge at Jingle Belles rock is to use gift items that are from the Christmas just gone( eg gift paper, reuse tags etc.)

I've cut a bauble from part of a gift tag I was given and rethreaded it using twine.
My background paper was from a Christmas construction book, which had papers to make your own decorations. This was the page nobody wanted so I put it aside for card use.

The silver scallops are from my Counterfeit Kit as is the turquoise card.

I'm also adding this to http://fattastictuesday.blogspot.com.au/ where you have to use something recycled,

Cards in Envy (2) and Merry Monday

Somebody gave me these animals from a Christmas advent calendar.
They all had chocolate gummed to their tummies.
Of course my job is to remove the gum and use them on cards.
(There are owls, penguins ,bears, Santa, snowmen and one reindeer.)

I've made 2 cards almost the same, but here is the one for Merry Monday and Cards in Envy(My second entry)

Stick it down,Challenge #1 CKC and Challenge YOUrself

This is the sketch starter for Stick it down.

At Counterfeit Kit challenges, the first one is to use a list of at least 10 things on your layout.
I'm using up some of those cards that come with kits of papers.
I've written a list of 10 things to pack for a crop or retreat. I find it helps to be organised.

Lastly, at Challenge Yourself the challenge for January is One word to describe your year.

Now I've moved house my scrap things are "as I left them" and need to be sorted.
So maybe the word PACK describes that aspect too.
My scrap room needs an overhaul, shelves built, containers packed etc.

Scrappy Friends and Challenge #2 with bookpages.

Challenge #2 at Counterfeit kits is to use recycled print.
I've used bookpages  on this layout.
This time I've used Inka gold paste to highlight the bookpage.

The challenges at scrappy friends are these

and here is my entry for all 3 challenges.

I took that colour on the left to be a pale aqua, but if it is blue ,there is a blue stone in the large brad.
I've gone down the right hand column on tic tac toe.
The die cut is the journaling shape (which my daughter can write on), the gold is there on the leaves and inka gold and there are 4 patterned papers.

*********************************************************************************
Next I've made a box frame.

I started with this box, that I bought at a local craft supplier.

Using old sheet music I Paper Mache strips around the lid with mod podge.

Next I've added lace using more mod podge.

Inside the box I've pasted paper dolls which I found on Pinterest, then printed off and fussy cut out.

I 've sealed this with modge podge as well.(I used nearly a whole jar on this project.)

And here's the final item!
