Come and get it CHALLENGE and stamping royalty

At http://cagichallenge.blogspot.ca/ they are asking us to use up stash items.
I had 2 orange felt flowers plus a word saying THANK, so I've made a thank you card.
The background paper and cardstock were also from my scrap bag..........a very economical card!

This colour palette inspired me to stamp a butterfly on turquoise shimmer paper then team it with butterfly printed paper. I used chocolate brown ribbon as my border.
I've chosen not to use a sentiment as it might be a get well or birthday card.
My scanner is disconnected at present, hence the photograph.

Are you lurking?

I'm noticing there are at least 30 people looking at each post on my blog.

Why not comment, even if you tell me my work is awful.

Click on my followers link and join in the fun.

I might have something soon for followers to entice you out of hiding.

ABC Christmas challenges (no sentiment)

If you are wondering why I'm ploughing through the card making, it is because there is a market stall coming up.
As I give all money to our local hospital for research, I'm maximising my sales as much as I can
Here's a card for ABC Christmas Challenges.
They have requested no sentiment.
I made the hessian flowers using layering then have used Christmassy coloured brads.
The gold braid actually came wrapped around a gift, so I'm upcycling it.

Cardz4Guyz and Shabby Tea room

Over at Cardz4guyz we are asked to use only blue plus Kraft.
I've probably done the reverse to most people. I've used a blue card with a strip of Kraft.
The blue came from printing off the 2nd card I feature in this post.
(I overmisted and had it everywhere, so why waste it?)
I've added a blue paperclip plus my sentiment uses Kraft coloured mini letters.

Next is my card for Shabby tea room.
It has asked for swirls and twirls.
I used a twirly mask and a strip of blue twirly printed paper.
It is a card for a neighbour's 4 year old boy.

Case this sketch #142

Well, here it is the latest sketch.
And here is my card using punched Christmas trees.

Freshly made sketches and Simon Says Stamp

I'm making cards this afternoon and decided to use this sketch at Freshly made sketches.

I'm also entering it on Simon Says Stamp, where we need to use a stamp on a card.

I started with packaging from skeleton leaves which makes the lower background of my card.
It is too pretty to throw away.
Next I have stamped a birdcage using a Kaisercraft stamp I own.
This became my tag.
I added another tiny apricot strip of paper and a wood veneer bird in the cage.
The top strip matches nicely so here you have my card.

Crafty Life Challenges colour palette.

This colour palette from Crafty Life challenges inspired me!
The leaves and wood toned picture in the bottom right hand corner were my main focus.
I've layered various shades of teal blue, then added 3 skeleton leaves, a painted doiley and some antique lace.
My border is grey & white card, plus orange washi tape.

The photo was taken at a street market in Darwin.
These are "Bird of Paradise" flowers. I love them.

Yasoo and tikanis to my Greek friends for your inspiration!
Finally, I've added some leaf stickers and enamel dots.
and a close up.......

Color Throwdown #361

Here's a card I made using layering of scraps for the challenge at Color Throwdown
.

It is mainly using scraps, some washi tape and a flair from Tattered Inspirations.

Blog hop Challenge #3 Mix a sketch

Welcome to the blog hop
I've chosen to do Challenge #3

Here are 2 sketches we are asked to mix together to create a fun page of our own.
I've decided to use the 4 squares background, but put my layered photo in the centre where it says TITLE then add my journaling under the 4 squares as a tab like in sketch 1.

Here is my finished layout featuring my daughter's very GOTH boots.

You should have come here from BINTY...

Use your stuff and Lil Red wagon

At Use your stuff this week there is a Fall theme (Autumn to us Aussies!)

I've had a set of Autumn stickers for years, so decided to use them on this card.
The strip of washi tape across the middle adds some background too.

I'm also entering this at Li'l Red Wagon, where there is a fall theme.

Scrapping outback

http://scrapping-outback.blogspot.com.au/ has this challenge.
You must use all the colours in the photo plus at least one item of chipboard.

I've dipped into my October Counterfeit Kit for this. Shhh don't tell them! LOL
My layout features a huge memory from my recent trip to Kakadu and the yellow water billabong cruise. If you ever get the chance, GO!

I've used a mammoth 6 photos plus fussy cut flowers, several brads,2 luggage tags from the trip and 3 chipboard fleur de lis(es). In fact, I'm pleased with what I could fit on there!
I painted the chippy white (I think it might have been Dusty Attic brand).
All the colours are there. I took that fruit to be lemon.

One bird doesn't have a label yet. I'm having difficulty finding it's name. Something like white chested sea eagle . Online searches all lead to travel sites.

Making a Gir

This is Gir from Invader Zim Anime game.

My daughter is friends with many gamers, as she did her degree in design and got to know the computer designers.
On one of her visits home she decided to make them all a Gir mascot.

After a shower and hair wash, she set to work.(Hence her photo wearing a dressing gown with wet hair)
I decided it was an interesting process to photograph as she doesn't use patterns, but just creates as she goes.
I've used 2 extremes in the scrapbooking world: puffy stickers (of GIR) and Graphic 45 sewing notions which I fussy cut out.

Through the craft room door-Anything goes

At Through the craft room door this week, it is anything goes.
I've been using up scraps after a massive tidy up of my craft room.
I unearthed some interesting bits & pieces.
This card was made by fussy cutting the butterfly which covered a tear in the vellum under the floral paper.(also a scrap). The mini letters were using up a sheet of left over letters.
The cardstock is from my Counterfeit Kit.

Jingle Belles and Shopping our stash

At Jingle Belles they have asked us to use something from our stash that is more than a year old.
and at Shopping our stash there is the same request.
I've had these 3D stickers for about 3 years and until now, haven't used them.
I've put 2 on this card.

Friday 18 September 2015

Lil Red Wagon

At Lil Red wagon they are asking us to try something new.
One technique I've never used is distress inking over stickers.I bought a Tim Holtz Distress ink named "old paper". It comes out a greeny colour and ages cardstock.
I've had these Paris themed stickers for quite a while so set to work.
I also used white tags and enamel dots.

Thursday 17 September 2015

Shopping our stash and one layer simplicity.

At shopping our stash the theme is "Out of this world".
Somewhere in my dim memory I knew I had some scraps featuring aliens from an old 8x8 paper set.
I found them!
I had to join 2 strips to make this card but it almost invisible as the paper is so busy.
Anyway, here it is.
The card measures 7cm x 14cm ,so it is quite small.

Meanwhile over at One layer simplicity the challenge is numbers.
I've made a 90th birthday card
The beige border goes all the way around.

Whimsical musings #286

This morning I've been making cards and using up scraps.
When I saw this sketch on Whimsical Musings I decided to make a card using it.

The chipboard strips are bronze but look pinkish on the page.

I've used a wood veneer bird in the cage and on the following card as well.
Luckily I had the feather for the mother bird too.

Challenge #1 for Counterfeit Kits

The #1 challenge at Counterfeit Kits blog is to use mainly white with a pop of one colour.

On this layout I have chosen some purple lace that I had as my pop.
I had 2 strips so have used them both on here. The jigsaw piece has been hanging around for years literally, so it went on there too.
Hope you like it! If you do leave a comment.

Mojo Monday 415 & Virginia's view

Over at Mojo Monday here is this week's sketch

and here is my interpretation
I'm also entering it at http://virginiasviewchallenge.blogspot.ca/ where the challenge is geometric.

Stick it down card challenge

Here is the design for the card challenge at Stick it down http://stickitdown.blogspot.no/2015/09/september-sketch-reveal.html

I'm using scraps with a squared pattern that co-ordinate on this card.
Here it is

I'm also linking this to Sweet stamps blog where the theme is Anything goes

Stick it down

At STICK IT DOWN this is the single page sketch.
I'm down to my last 2 pieces of patterned paper from my Counterfeit Kit, and this lilac and yellow squared one went well with the 1970s photo of my sister.

I've used a combination of washi tapes plus strips of paper as my background and finished up a set of alphas in circles.(hooray!)

City Crafter and Muse Challenges.

At City crafter they want flat cards and Muse challenges we are asked to be inspired by this card.

I've used the idea of lots of words and made a Bon Voyage card for Paris.
The flair button is where the fabric loop would be only upside down. It fitted better there.

I think this fits both criteria admirably.

Let's get sketchy and Scrap Much

I'm combining 2 challenges with this layout.
Firstly this sketch from Let's get sketchy

and this colour palette from Scrap Much, where we can choose any 4 colours.
.
I started by swishing some paint around as my background (or part of it).
Next I cut part of one of my papers up as it featured orange, yellow and white.
I'm using all the colours except the turquoise.

While in the Northern Territory I collected this box from my shower cap in the hotel.
I could imagine it being used on a layout.

So putting that all together, here is some close ups then my layout.

Challenge #2 Make a set of 3 cards that are similar.

For my challenge I have chosen this paper from my kit.
It is named "Cabbage patch".
I'm also using this group of scraps from my kit.

I've added sentiments plus a couple of paperclips to my finished cards.
