Jingle belles

http://jinglebellesrock.blogspot.com.au/ has an embossing challenge.
Using the same range of papers as my previous card, I added a strip of maroon braid down the left hand side.
The embossed background for my sentiment was done using my cuttlebug.
As a final touch, I added 2 pearls.

Sugar Pea Designs

Sugar Pea designs has this challenge.

I'm full steam ahead on Christmas Cards at the moments, so I used the sketch on the left to create this card.
I fussy cut the 2 smaller pointsettias and mounted them on foam to stand them up off the card.
I left a box of cards at a local coffee shop yesterday and sold 6 in 10 minutes!

Stuck?!

My last layout for the month and I've chosen the second sketch at Stuck?!
http://stucksketches.blogspot.com.au/

I had 2 photos, so have hidden one inside the mini file.

Coming home one day, we found our very flexible cat asleep in the fruit bowl.
Erica was amazed that she had fitted herself so neatly into it.
One of life's small moments that you remember...

I used a dull green background misted with green and blue.
I also used mist on the chipboard fish embellishments.
The second colour was apricot/soft peach. I had this mini file so used it as my second patterned paper and put the hidden picture inside it.My black tag was to balance the black in the photo.I used gingham to match the check tablecloth in the photo.

Cardz4guyz plus In the pink

Here's a quick card for Cardz4guyz where the theme is architcure.

Being the owner of archiscraps, I had to enter this challenge.
I had a row of houses left from the reverse side of some spotted paper. I simply cut it to fit the card.
The alphas look perfect on the black background, so there you go!

In the pink wants flowers.
Crafty rocket wants something starting with F.
I had this imaginesce floral paper so added pink glittery flowers and my amusing sentiment.

Daring cardmakers

Don't forget Archiscraps where the challenge is to use lots of something.

htpp://archiscraps.blogspot.com

Now on to my latest card.
This one is for Daring cardmakers where the theme is Queen for a day.

Kathy's card using the queen playing card gave me an idea for a collage.
I started with a black background.
I used 3 scraps of neutral papers as my background.
Using the playing card, a Graphic 45 domestic Goddess tag and a wood veneer crown, I decorated the card.
Before gluing on the crown , I used "Inka Gold" on the crown then put dots of copper Liquid Pearls.

Paper Play sketches.

Paper play sketches has a colour challenge.

These colours gave me a chance to dig into my scrap bags and find co-ordinating colours for the card.
I started with the lilac coloured cardstock, found the crimson vellum and a piece of green paper.
Like a leaf or flower, it grew from there.
The stickers I used are from Echo Park "Life is good" range.

This card is for a friend's daughter who has just completed high school.

Allsorts challenge & Merry Monday

Allsorts challenge wants things with wings.

I'm still on the Christmas cards but this one I'm including a penguin.
I inked my alphas as they looked too white as plain alphas.

I'm also adding this to Merry Monday where they want a penguin on a card.

Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Here's another card using the pointsettia papers PLUS Ribbon.
It is for Really Reasonable Ribbon challenge where anything goes .

Again I fussy cut the flowers and mounted the 2 smaller ones on magic mount.
The sentiment is recycled from last years Christmas cards.(Do you do that?)

Jingle Belles and Sketchy Saturday

Jingle Belles has this tic tac toe grid this time.

I've gone across the bottom row.

My second card is for sketchy Saturday.
I fussy cut around the flower and used some maroon ribbon to co-ordinate with the flower.

Li'l red wagon & Create with Connie &Mary

The challenge at Li'l red wagon is to use leaves.
As it is spring here, I can't get into autumn cards,so instead I'm making Christmas cards.
My leaves are the holly leaves on the washi tape I used.
Hope you like it!

Over at Create with Connie and Mary there is a sketch.
CCMC476
I've used it to make another Christmas card.

Off the rails scrapbooking.

This is my entry for "Off the Rails" this month where the theme is steampunk.

My photo was taken at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris.
Because the subject of the photo is industrial, I went with the steampunk look on my layout.

Merry Monday

I started by putting a P/L card through my cuttlebug to give a circle texture.

Next I used a Christmas tree die cut on the tag.
Around the trees branches I used red rhinestones and in the corners, pale green pearls.
Finally I mounted it on the card featuring a circular patterned papers.
My sentiment was a separate tag.

Paper Issues scrap soup.

Image may contain: text

Now that I've finished my Counterfeit kit I'm branching out to other things.
The above challenge appeals to me.
The 3 rectangles are there, one is the photo mat.
My 4 embellishments are the tree and flower sticker plus the 2 wood veneer butterflies which I inked and used black journaling pen to colour.
My photo s there as is my arrow.
The tag is there, I made it.

Lets get sketchy again plus That's crafty

I'm back after lunch now and doing the other challenge at Let's get sketchy
The sketch looks like this and I'm back to front as this is the first sketch for September

What I like about this is that the banner uses up lots of strips or offcuts from papers already used.
I've chosen a neutral paper as my background so that I could add the coloured strips.
I also dribbled red mist over the page before I started.

My photo is of our cat that died in 2008.
I used black and white embellishments as well to go with the photo.
As I only had white alphas I used distress ink across them to highlight.

I've also made a card for That's crafty challenge where they want something that flies.
My choice is a butterfly.
The confetti looking paper and the star shaped "ribbon" matched so well I wished I had more.
I traced the circle then stitched around the edge by hand.

Let's get sketchy

This is the last of my counterfeit kit and I'm using it on this challenge (Sept.15th) at Let's get sketchy. I've moved things around slightly but the key elements are still there.
The photo of me was taken at Cairns when I was on holiday. I was swimming each day trying to get fit.
As the background sunburst paper is "over the top" I needed to keep my extra papers etc fairly streamlined. Everything I used is remnants of previous kits except the "Prima say it in crystals."
They resemble water splashes so well.

Since getting my new computer I'm still not sure how to lessen the colour intensity ,so bear with me.

Cardz 4 guyz

Cardz 4 guyz wants nature as a theme for their challenge.
I'm using up pieces from my Counterfeit Kit.
The first 3 layers on here are all scraps from my kit.
The trim featuring hedgehogs and a tree stump is from Sassafrass Lass

Crazy4challenges

This the sketch at Crazy4challenges.
Using more of the cork border strip and some enamel dots, I created this general purpose card.

Another Freakin Scrapping challenge

The challenge at another freaking scrappy challenge is to use purple.
I used as many purple papers as I had on this to create a layered effect. The first 2 layers were machine stitched in place.
The satin flower I made myself and tried out the technique of singeing around the edge with a cigarette lighter.(My daughter put me on to that idea to stop fabrics fraying).
I've also used a bling flourish plus the die cut Smile ,washi tape, ric rac and 3 buttons.
My photo was taken in Cairns along the harbour where the big marlin is situated.

Friday 15 September 2017

4 crafty chics.

http://4craftychicks.blogspot.com.au/ wants geometric.
My card features more cork strips, this time it is hearts.
The old K & Company newsprint paper made a nice background for the cork.
My sentiment is simple...it can be used for anything at all.

Cas(E) this sketch

I'm using up some small offcuts plus the cork border strip on this card for Case this sketch.
Yesterday in Australia it was R.U. OK ? day which highlights mental illness.
Sometimes we need to reach out to those who might be suffering depression or loneliness.

My sentiment say R.U. OK? I put it above the cork strip as it wouldn't stick to it.

Sometimes we make mistakes........

I started this layout for 123 challenges

It wasn't until I was 3/4 the way through that I realised I hadn't used the sketch.
It is pretty close but not correct.
I put journaling under the V shape of the pennant which isn't on this picture.

So....do not judge me in your entries but I'm adding it just to join in the fun.

In the pink

At In the pink it is anything goes.
I made this thank you card today for one of the school teachers that buy my cards.
It is a salmon pink but still qualifies I'm sure.

Christmas card challenges plus Unstampabelles.

At Christmas card challenges this is the inspiration.
At Unstampabelles they want a trio, plus cardboard.
My cardboard is the beige colour behind the trio of gingerbread men.

I'm combining the two challenges

Challenge #1

The cards in the Lost River Documenter Kit have some fabulous 'starters' as journalling prompts or for use as titles. For example, Our Stories Matter; Let's Go Outside; Weekday Ventures; I Can't Go Because I Don't Want To; Go See Do; Let The Adventure Begin - and that's only a few of them! For this challenge, choose any one of the cards as inspiration - and create a layout, card, or ... well, anything, using one of the phrases as a prompt for your storytelling.

The one that inspired me is the green "Love this place".
Looking back on my travels, one place fits that description......Venice!
In my kit I had 3 strips with phrases and one says "Be here now". I wish I was.

You will notice that I used the gold misted dots, that I made in my background.

Challenge Yourself #45.

I turned the sketch on its side so that it looked like this.

Using 2 papers that I counterfeited (or created myself using gold mist) plus a black and white one from my Counterfeit kit, I constructed my background.
The stitching is there, just hard to see as I used a pale green cotton.
Everything on this layout is from my kit.
The die cut saying Smile! is perfect, I think that's exactly what I said. I used faux stitching on it too.
The photos feature my daughter and I at a recent meet-up.

Here's some close ups of the very appropriate Prima brads
Time after time....we are always meeting somewhere!

and
Eyeglasses brad near Erica's glasses.

Finally Ta Da...the layout!

I'm entering this at Tuesday Taggers as well, because their theme is stitching.
I've used both machine and faux stitching on here.
